In an effort to portray himself as an authority and an originator, Richard Johnson provides this "history" of the kamado. In it, he claims to have invented the word "kamado".
He Invented The Word???
It sounds good. The word "kamado", however, has ancient roots , as has been meticulously detailed in the following article:
The Truth About the Word Kamado

I notice that all of their "Kamado Charcoal" logos have the trademark symbol on them, yet he hasn't trademarked the term. I think someone should trademark it, and then sue him. |

I suppose that if someone went and posted to all these old threads to bring them back up to the forefront, that AlanZ would then just delete them. It's pretty incredible that they leave some of these gems out there. |

Curiosity got the best the best of me today and I checked the trademark site for the word Kamado. I think you can start right here and do a search on the word Kamado. http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?f=searchss&state=pj63a4.1.1 This search gives some very interesting results. There are two live and two dead trademarks that use the name Kamado. The interesting fact is that none of them has anything to do with Richard Johnson. Looks like another company uses Kamado as part of its trademark name but no RJ to be found there.
